José Augusto A. K. Pinto de Abreu, Managing Director of Sextante Consultoria, is a civil engineer and expert with more than 25 years of experience on management systems, standardization and regulation, conformity assessment, risk management and sustainability. Worked for 10 years at the Brazilian National Standards Body – ABNT, where he was the Technical Director when he left to create Sextante in 2000, a consultancy company specialized in those subjects.
Deeply involved with sustainability, conceived and participated in the implementation of sustainable procurement at Itaipu Binacional, a Brazilian/Paraguayan energy company, owner of Itaipu’s Dam.
For UN Environment was in charge of the “Paper Brasil”, a document with recommendations to enhance the Sustainable Public Procurement to the Brazilian government. He is in charge to content development of the Latina America and the Caribbean Online Platform on Public Sustainable Procurement. A member of the Brazilian Mirror Committee (ABNT/CEE 277) to ISO/PC277 – Sustainable procurement, in which has been the Brazilian Head of Delegation.
