With over 40 years of experience spanning music, entertainment, environmental advocacy, and social enterprise, I am driven by a deep commitment to leveraging the arts for social change and climate action. As the Founder and CEO of Climate Actions Now (CAN) and CANMusic.org, I have dedicated my career to empowering the next generation of leaders, fostering cross-cultural collaborations, and investing in sustainable development projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At Climate Actions Now (CAN), we focus on initiatives that promote environmental stewardship and community resilience. Through projects like Eduponics—which integrates aquaponics into educational systems across Africa—we equip students with the tools to engage in sustainable agriculture. Our development of the Climate Action App (CAA) empowers individuals and communities to track and reduce their carbon footprints, fostering grassroots climate action.
CANMusic merges my passion for music with social justice. By mentoring young talents like Tinta Tribe, DJ Tease, and Sir Kisoro, we create platforms where music becomes a catalyst for climate advocacy. Campaigns like “Oh Environment” and “Dance Be Happy” have inspired millions globally, using the universal language of music to mobilize action against climate change.
My work goes beyond CAN and CANMusic. In Uganda, I have championed initiatives like Gorilla Highlands Coffee, promoting sustainable farming and community empowerment. I’m also deeply involved in projects that contribute to the green economy, including industrial hemp farming and aquaponics.
In Cape Town, we’ve established a creative hub in the heart of the arts quarter, providing a sanctuary for artists to focus on their craft while contributing to global dialogues on climate and social issues. This space nurtures creativity, activism, and collaboration, laying the foundation for future leaders and change-makers.
As I approach the later stages of my career, my focus is on leaving a legacy where creativity and advocacy intersect to inspire global change. I am committed to expanding our impact, building more creative hubs, and establishing additional Centers of Excellence. My ultimate goal is to inspire a worldwide movement that uses art, music, and innovation as powerful tools for social and environmental good.
